Now, here’s one that landed in my mailbox almost simultaneously from our Congressperson, Debbie Dingell:
Friend, Tomorrow is Election Day for the Presidential election, and it is important that everyone have their voices heard by voting for the candidate of their choice. I will be voting for Hillary Clinton, a person who I have worked with on critical issues for many years, and I know she will be a champion for the issues that are critical to me, including healthcare, education, foreign policy among many others. If you're not sure where your polling place is or need more information on what you need to bring to the polls, click here >> Supporters of Hillary will be gathering to watch election returns tomorrow night at 18 West Adams Street in Detroit, and all are welcome. Click here to find more details and RSVP >> It's crucial that we all get out the vote tomorrow, to make sure that Michigan keeps moving forward. Best, Debbie Dingell
Perhaps it’s just me, but getting these at this point, when I’ve been working so hard to promote Bernie, just sort of pissed me off. So here is how I responded to them:
Quit trying to bias the primaries.
Many of us can’t stand Hillary’s Republican-Lite or at best right-center positions. Bernie Sanders is the right person at the exactly critical time for MI and for the U.S. Perhaps too many of you are in the Washington bubble and establishment, but it should be obvious to you that the country is screaming for something different. Do you want your different to be running Hillary against Donald Trump, or even worse, Ted Cruz, and losing? Because that is what she will do. Bernie is our only chance to keep this country intact with progressive ideals such as those of Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, JFK, RFK and LBJ. The Democratic party has been too far to the right since it got terrified of Ronald Reagan. Enough is enough. Vote progressive and get Goldman Sachs out of Hillary’s pockets.I will leave the party and work to form a progressive third party if Hillary is our candidate.
Robert PowellI know, I know, it doesn’t make any difference what I said to them. But it made me feel better.
Go Bernie, make these insider establishment types eat their words!
